George Edward Thomas was born September 4, 1943, in Davis, to the late John E. and Ruby Clarette (Cottrell) Thomas. He died Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Sulphur, at the age of 79. George and the former Ms. Barbara Ann Gordon were married on July 21, 1962, in Davis.
George grew up in Davis, where he attended school. After he and Barbara married, they moved to Fort Worth, TX, where he spent 20 years working in the roofing industry. In 1982, they returned to Davis where he spent the rest of his life working as a pumper in the oil field. George was very much an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time at “Dave’s Cabin” west of Davis, relaxing and observing nature at its finest. George was an avid fan of Davis Wolve’s football. He made sure each day started with visiting the local coffee shops to visit with friends and stay up to date with the local happenings.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Edward Thomas, and Donald Thomas, all of Davis; nine grandchildren, Aaron Thomas, Heather Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Lil’ George Thomas, Jordy Whitaker, Sierra Whitaker, Savannah Whitaker, Kenny Thomas, and Jake Thomas; ten great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by one son, Kenny Thomas; four sisters, Dorothy Jo Roady, June Brazeal, Shirley Jenkins, and Vickie Thomas; and one brother, Johnny Thomas.
Per George’s wishes, no public service will be held.
Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis.
