Funeral services for Frances Opal Vermillion will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2019 at the Crossway First Baptist Church Chapel in Sulphur with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Frances was born December 14, 1943 in Vanderbilt, MI to the late Leonard and Minnie (Oliver) Hill. She passed Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 24 days.
Frances grew up in the Vanderbilt/Flint, MI area. Following her 1962 graduation from Beecher High School, she moved to Oklahoma to provide childcare for her sister. While living in Oklahoma, she met her future husband, Marshall Edward Vermillion. Not long after their meeting, Frances moved back to Michigan, only to return back to Oklahoma a short time later to marry Marshall. She spent several years working as a cook for the Tecumseh Elementary School and as a cashier at Pratt’s Grocery in Tecumseh. Later she began working as a ward clerk at the VA Center in Oklahoma City. In 1992, she and Marshall moved to Five Lake’s, south of Sulphur. Following her retirement in 2008, she worked in security at Five Lakes. Frances enjoyed traveling, was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors.
Survivors include three sons, Leonard Vermillion & wife Kimberly of Shawnee, Mark Vermillion & wife Carol of North Richland Hill, TX and Randall Vermillion & wife Pamela of Seagoville, TX; one brother, Jim Hill & wife Ruth of Michigan; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband Marshall on October 13, 2000; daughter, Vickie Vermillion; four siblings, Bob Hill, Lenora Newell, Katherine Decker and Bill Redford; as well as one grandson, David Joseph Lynch.
