Evelynn Delores Banks was born October 19, 1946, in Fort Towson, OK, to the late Arthur M. and Erma Jean (Butler) Clark. She passed into Glory on Friday, October 1, 2021, in Sulphur, just 18 days shy of her 75th birthday.
Evlynn grew up in the Idabel area. After graduating from Idabel High School, she attended Langston University in Langston, OK. She later earned a degree in Dietary Management from the Francis Tuttle Technology Center in Oklahoma City.
Evlynn spent her career working in the Food Service industry, employed with Langston University, Burford Manor Nursing Home, The Artesian Nursing Home, as well as the Assembly of God Church Camp.
After retiring from food service in 2004, Evlynn enjoyed doing arts and crafts, and working puzzles. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who once awarded her “Fan of the Month!” This award included being seated floor side at a home game. She was immensely proud of this opportunity and shared the story quite often. Evlynn also enjoyed watching Westerns and old TV shows, all while having a popcorn and a cold adult-beverage. She cherished spending time with her beloved family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Clark of Columbia, SC; son, Michael Colbert & wife Angelia of Sulphur; step-daughter, Katre Nicholson of Florida; five grandchildren, Tisha, Cam’Ron, Darnell, Cedric and Avery; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Micah and Novah; her beloved soulmate, Michael Wayne Banks; siblings, Arthur, Gilbert, Stevie, Malcolm, Martha, Lisa, Seniora, Angela, Catherine, Mary and Mark; as well as countless nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Evlynn was preceded in death by seven siblings, Wayne, Nancie, Patricia, Consuelo, Milton, Evie, and John.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Friday, October 8, 2021, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Sulphur, with the Reverend Gregory McCarrol officiating.
Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
