Emma Martha (Scott) Prince was born December 5, 1952, in Ardmore, OK, to the late Mitchell “Tag” and Martha Ann (Stevenson) Scott. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 17, 2021, in Ardmore, at the age of 69 years and 12 days. Emma married the true love of her life, Altus Prince, on June 18, 2004, in Marietta, OK. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2014.
Emma grew in the Milo area. She was a 1971 graduate of Graham High School, where to this day, she is remembered for being a star basketball player. Following high school, her working career began at the Stromburg-Carlson facility in Gene Autry. She later found her true calling in the healthcare industry. Emma spent some thirty plus years working as a Nurse’s Aide, beginning her career at the Artesian Nursing Home in Sulphur, prior to working as a home healthcare aide for Mercy Health in Ardmore.
Emma was a sweet-spirited, quite lady. She had a very caring heart for those around her, especially her beloved family. As the matriarch of her family, she was always on the go attending school and life activities of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, traveling, gardening, and fishing.
Being called “Mom” by her daughters, “Bammaw” by her grandchildren, and “Dea” by her great-grandchildren, were three titles that she held very dear to her heart. However, her very most important title that she held was being a child of God. Emma’s love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, began at a very early age growing up in the Jehovah Baptist Church in Milo. Throughout her walk with the Lord, she faithfully served in many capacities within the church. For the past several years, Emma attended the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Gene Autry.
Those left to cherish Emma’s memory include her daughters, Kimberly (Williams) Thomas & husband John of Gainesville, TX and LaTrisha Williams & husband Randy of Garland, TX; her five grandchildren, Gemerra McMillian, Christopher Williams, Kieana Pickett, Kalen Smith, and Niya Coleman; eight great-grandchildren, Tyson Williams, Tristen Pickett, Londyn Patton, Immanuel McMillian, Mila Smith, Isabella McMillian, Jordan Williams, and Shiloh McMillian; one sister, Rosetta McKenzie of San Bernardino, CA; one brother, Johnnie Wright of Ardmore; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by seven brothers, Billy Joe Scott, Leon Williams, Charles “Sonny” Williams, George Scott, J.W. Scott, James Willie Scott, and William Scott, as well as three sisters, Mazelle Anderson, Minnie Simpson, and Charlene Richardson.
