Maxine (Cox) Luellen was born June 26, 1932, in Harden County, OH, to the late Benjamin Harrison and Bessie Louise (Taynor) Cox. She passed from this life on Thursday, September 5, 2024, in Dougherty, OK, at the age of 92.

Maxine grew up in Springfield, OH. Shortly after marriage, she and her family moved to Illinois, prior to moving to California, where she worked in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1979, she moved to Pleasant Grove, AR, where she worked as a cashier in the retail grocery industry, retiring in 2017. In June of 2024, due to her failing health, Maxine moved to Dougherty, OK, to live with her sister, Clara.

Maxine's most favorite hobby was shopping. Whether it was in store shopping or looking for bargains on QVC, she was always ready to take advantage of a good deal. Maxine faithfully attended the Flatwood Missionary Baptist Church in Mountain View, prior to moving to Oklahoma.

Survivors include her daughter Nancy Smith & husband Jerry, of Scottsdale, AZ; three grandsons, Jerry Smith & wife Stephanie, Tim Smith & wife Melissa, and Todd Smith & wife Margie; seven great-grandchildren; step-children, Lori Mason & husband Jay, and David Mason; four sisters, Clara Beck, Mary Jane Smith, Betty Puryear and Roberta Jackson; one brother, Jack Cox; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Mason on April 3, 2022; son, Richard Lee Loy; and siblings, Andy Cox, Benny Cox, Marvin Cox, Jim Cox, Crystal Yaney, Catherine Cox, Virginia Cox, Roy Cox, and Wanda Cox.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, in Davis, with Brother Lance Whaley and Rev. Tony Randol officiating.

Services are "entrusted" to Hale's Funeral Home of Davis.
