Ella Mae (West) Stout

Funeral services for Ella Mae (West) Stout will be held 2:00PM Friday, Dec 2, 2016 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.

Ella was born Aug 31, 1924 in Davis, OK to the late Jim Frank & Alice Belle (Hunt) West. She died Tuesday, Nov 29, 2016 in Sulphur, at the age of 92 years, 2 months & 28 days. Ella and Joseph Pershing “Perk” Stout were married on Aug 5, 1940 in Sulphur. He preceded her in death in June 1979.

Ella grew up in Davis where she attended school. She spent 25 years working in laundry at the Sulphur Veteran’s Center. Following her retirement from the VA Center in 1984, Ella worked five years at Wal-Mart prior to working five years as a home health aide. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was a very gifted seamstress and made clothes for her family. She also enjoyed baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and cherry pies for her grandchildren. Ella cherished her family and loved spending every opportunity she could with them.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Trussell & husband Joe; two sons, Gary Stout & wife Doris and Michael Stout, all of Sulphur; six grandchildren, Steven Trussell & wife Kelly, Doug Stout & wife Lisa, Kimberly Trussell, Jarie Sharp & husband J.D., Bobby Trussell & wife Michelle and Zachary Stout; 16 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ella was preceded in death by five sisters, Rubby Harrison, Vera Harrison, Frances Turner, Wanda Howard and Ruthie Iveas Pruitt; as well as one brother, John West.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Steven Trussell, Doug Stout, J.D. Sharp, Bobby Trussell, Cameron Roberts and Zachary Stout. Honorary bearers will be Bob Seward, Jim Parker, Glen Leming, Dewayne Leming, Ducky Day and Joe Runyan.
