Elaine W. Higgins

Elaine was born February 27, 1945 in Marshall, AR to the late Edgar A. and Helen Marie (Guthrie) Wilson. She died Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Sulphur, at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 7 days. Elaine and Teddy Kent Higgins were married on December 10, 1962 in Lewisville, TX.

Elaine grew up in the Colbert area, graduating from Colbert High School in 1963. She worked as a dorm parent for the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur prior to her retirement in 2002. Elaine was a very kind hearted, caring woman, possessing great love and compassion for children, especially children with special need, whom she worked with for 23 years. Elaine enjoyed spending time tending to her plants and flowers. She had a love for small animals and enjoyed going to garage sales. Colorado held a very special place in Elaine’s heart. She admired the beauty of its mountains, trees and water.

Survivors include her husband Teddy; two sons Teddy Kent Higgins of Oklahoma City and James Michael Higgins & wife Dawn of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Michael Higgins & wife McKenzie, Theodore Higgins, Ludie Higgins and J.J. Higgins; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Parker of Davis and Sharon Adams of Denison, TX; as well as several nieces & nephews, including one special nephew, Gary Parker.

In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Garland.
