Edwin Don "Ed" Phillips

Edwin Don "Ed" Phillips was born November 9, 1944, in Oklahoma City, OK, to the late William E. & Grace (Drake) Phillips. He died on Friday, August 2, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 79. Ed and the former Ms. Betty L. Statley were united in marriage on August 19, 1967, in Sidney, NE. To this union were born two sons, Jason and Scott.

Ed grew up in Oklahoma City. On March 27, 1963, he joined the United States Navy, and proudly served his country, during the Vietnam War. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Navy on January 20, 1967, he returned to Oklahoma City. After he and Betty married, Ed spent several years working for Western Electric, as well as worked as a locksmith.

From Oklahoma City, Ed and his family moved to Chappell, NE, where he spent several years ranching, prior to spending 14 years working for the Pennington Seed Company. After retiring in 2010, he and Betty enjoyed eight years of their retirement in Chappell, prior to moving to Sulphur in 2018. In October of 2021, due to failing health, Ed became a resident of the Sulphur Veteran's Center, where he quickly became loved by the staff and fellow residents.

Ed was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was very involved in the lives of his sons as they grew up and later the lives of his grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding ATV's and playing golf.

Survivors include his loving wife, Betty; two sons, Scott Phillips & wife Debbie of Vacaville, CA and Jason Phillips & wife Tanya of Austin, TX; one granddaughter, Adele Phillips & husband Trevor; five grandsons, Trai Phillips & wife Kate, Cory Phillips, Carson Phillips, Tyler Phillips and Miles Phillips; as well as one brother, Bill Phillips of Sulphur.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by one brother, Steve Phillips.
