Funeral services for Edwin Norvell Dalley will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the Sulphur United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Norvell was born November 18, 1933, in Wynnewood, OK to the late Doyle E. & Minnie (Powell) Dalley. He died Thursday, May 27, 2021, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 9 days. Norvell and the former Ms. Mary E. Allen were married on June 3, 1972, in Sulphur.
Norvell grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1952. Following high school, he joined the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Norvell returned home, working at several area jobs including, Hodges Trucking, Sequoyah Carpet Mills and Sooner Rock. In 1976, Norvell began a venture in egg farming. He and his family started the Dalley Egg Farm, owning and operating it for 29 years, prior to him retiring in 2005.
Norvell was very much a people person. He loved to visit with family and friends and many times, strangers. He had the gift of gab. He could literally talk to anyone about anything, even if he knew nothing about the subject at hand. He enjoyed aggravating his family and friends just to get a laugh. In younger years, Norvell was very active in the community and was always very supportive of the Sulphur and Davis FFA and 4-H Clubs.
Norvell remained very active in his retirement years with the sport of square dancing. He and Mary were members of the YellowRocker Square Dance Club and were always on the road to dances and conventions. Together, they also loved to travel. They enjoyed their many trips around the country including trips to Alaska, Hawaii and the Panama Canal.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; three daughters, Betty Daneen Cavin of Oklahoma City, Kimberly Sue Graves of Sulphur and Karla Kay Irving of Oklahoma City; two sons, Allen Duane Smith & wife Angela of Oklahoma City and Edwin Norvell “Eddy” Dalley, Jr & companion Teresa Price of Davis; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Norvell was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Boyd Dalley and Billy Ray Dalley.
