Edward Gerard Monjay, Ii

Edward G. Monjay, II, known by many as Eddie, was born April 15, 1965, in Oklahoma City, to Lesley Joe Edd and Margaret “Marty” Monjay. He died Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in Oklahoma City, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 58. As the family returned home after Eddie’s passing, they were blessed to witness a beautiful rainbow, which gave them a peaceful reminder of God’s eternal promises.

Growing up in Sulphur, Eddie attended Sulphur Public Schools. Throughout his younger years, he was known for building rockets, which often delighted his friends, but unfortunately, not his neighbors. He had a dream of becoming an Astronaut, but due to an accidental fall on his back, he would not qualify. While in high school, Eddie maintained a firm position on the Honor Roll. He excelled in Computers, Science and Art. He was also active in 4-H and Art Club, as well as wrestling and football, lettering in both sports.

After graduating from Sulphur High School, Eddie continued his education at East Central University, where he studied computers and completed his basics, while being on the Deans Honor Roll. After East Central, Eddie spent a year in Seminary School in Dallas, TX, prior to attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he earned three degrees: Computer Engineering, Architecture Engineering and Mathematics. After being told by his dad to choose “ONE,” Eddie chose to pursue a career in Computer Engineering. During his time at OSU, he was on the Deans Honor Roll, Honor Society Roll, as well as active in two fraternities, one for academic achievement and the other for fellowship.

After graduating from OSU, Eddie began his working career with Motorola in the Dallas area. He was lead on the engineering team that developed the Smart computer watch, which they sold to Apple. From Motorola, Eddie went to work with Lockheed-Martin in Dallas, where he was lead engineer on reprogramming F-16 Fighter Jets, as well as other major projects for them.

Leaving Lockheed-Martin, Eddie became self-employed, doing development and reprogramming all over the US. Some of his work included redesigning and programming computers for the government in Washington DC, HUD, US Post offices and many others. His final work in computer engineering was with Gainwell Technologies, where he worked as the team lead to design and reprogram the Maryland Judicial system's computer, and the I-Phone operating systems.

In the final years of his life, Eddie developed a passion for writing. He wrote nineteen books about the bible, physical abuse, rape victims, mothers, overcoming losses and many more. His superb writing skills landed him on New Yorks Best Sellers list three separate times with his latest books. Eddie’s books are available on Amazon. The week prior to becoming ill, he was scheduled to do radio interviews and book tours. The family will continue his writing legacy, by publishing the remaining books that Eddie had written. He was known for sharing his love for the Bible with anyone. When asked by his mother why he was working so hard on his books, he said, “God told me what to write and that I didn’t have much time.” Of course, his family did not realize he had such little time left on earth. In their earthly thinking, they thought he meant time to get them to print.

Eddie was a member of the Reformed Jewish Church. He had a heart for the lost and hungry Jewish people and supported them tirelessly. He LOVED the Lord with all his heart, soul and might. He would share it if someone inquired why he would not participate in activities he felt God would be disappointed in. Eddie would never fuss or be upset with anyone over their beliefs, but held strong to his own, as if God were there watching.

His heart was happy. During his illness, Eddie never complained. Although he had pain and his body was failing him, he never gave up. He simply accepted his illness and felt God knew best and found peace in the Holy Spirit.

Eddie was a very happy person, always wearing a smile and brought forth a beautiful laughter. He loved his family and writing. He never had a cross word with anyone. People instantly liked him when they met his kind voice, spirit, and loving heart.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved mother, Margaret E. “Marty” Monjay of Oklahoma City; his beloved sister, Debby A. Sadler of Davis; niece, Natalie Sadler Moss of Davis; nephew, Lincoln Sadler of Davis; great-niece, Kylie Moss of Ada; great-nephew, Tyson Moss of Davis; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Those who preceded Eddie in death include his father, Lesley Joe Edd Monjay; his brother, Dr. David R. Monjay; paternal grandparents, Edward and Nellie Monjay; maternal grandfather, Orville F. Walls; maternal grandmother, Rachel Taylor Davis; paternal great-grandmother, Claudie Mayberry; and brother-in-law, Jackie Don Sadler.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Crossway First Baptist Church Chapel, in Sulphur, OK, at 1:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to any of the following: the National Prion Disease (Brain) Pathology Center in Ohio; Feeding the Holocaust Survivors; St Jude’s Research; or Tunnel to Towers.
