Edgar Preston Evans

Edgar Preston Evans was born November 19, 1946 in Pauls Valley, OK to the late Ernest and Lahoma (Anthony) Evans. He died Friday, September 25, 2020, in Sulphur, at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 6 days. He and the former Ms. Glenda Sue Maggard were married on June 1, 2010 in Sulphur.

Preston grew up in Sulphur, attending Sulphur Public Schools. In January 1964, he joined the United State Marine Corp and served during the Vietnam War. Following his time in the Marines, Preston returned to Sulphur, joining the Army National Guards, dedicating an additional eight years of service to our country. Much of his adult life was spent working as a mechanic. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing shuffleboard, hunting, fishing and racing cars.

Survivors include his wife Glenda; one son, Jeff Evans & wife Debbie of San Jose, CA; granddaughter, Kaelyn Searle of Rock Port, TX; as well as one sister, Jean Warren; and three brothers, Ray Evans, Les Caldwell and Tom Caldwell.

In addition to his parents, Preston was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Claudia Anthony, who raised him.
