Duane Eugene Herrod was born September 28, 1942 in Trenton, Nebraska to the late George and Annabelle (Hobson) Herrod. He died Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Marlow, at the age of 78. Duane and the former Ms. Myrna Ragsdale were married on Aug 17, 1961 in Denver, Colorado.
Duane grew up in Trenton, graduating from Trenton High School, Class of 1960. He was a Golden Glove Boxer, winning titles in both 1959 and 1960, in Colorado. In 1961, he and Myrna moved to California where they owned and operated Herrod Pool Services for many years, prior to moving to the Davis, Oklahoma area in 1998. In Oklahoma, they continued their pool service, as well as raised, trained and showed horses. Duane had a heart and mind for horses. He was continually studying and learning more about them. As a very knowledgeable horseman, many people throughout the industry trusted him with their horses, knowing he would produce a winner for them. In 2015, Duane was involved in an accident with a horse, which left him disabled and relying on others for his daily care.
Survivors include his wife Myrna of Lindsay, OK; son, Devin Herrod & wife Carrie of Lindsay; daughter, Mindy McKinney of Tuttle, OK; two grandsons, Brandon and Michael McKinney; two great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Warren of California; and two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Herrod of California and Kerry Herrod of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma.
In addition to his parents, Duane was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Ken Herrod.
