Graveside services for Donald Jess “Don” McGregor will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur with Reverend Fred Bailey officiating.

Don was born July 4, 1944 in Wynnewood, OK to the late Jesse Dial and Josephine (Richardson) McGregor. He died Monday, May 31, 2021, in Sulphur, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 27 days. Don and Carolyn Ann Monroe were married on January 28, 19 1974 in Wellington, TX.

As a youngster, Don grew up in Blair, OK, as well as the Wynnewood/Pauls Valley areas. At the age of 15, he began working in the construction industry operating heavy equipment. Following his retirement in 2002, Don & Carolyn moved to Sulphur to be closer to their children. After moving to Sulphur, he re-entered the working field and spent 10 years working for the Chickasaw Nation.

Don was an avid “Pitch” player. He was known to be very hard to beat at the game. Upon receiving a terminal diagnose, Don returned home from the hospital with one thing in mind. He wanted one last game of Pitch with those he loved and cherished the most. On May 22, 2021, he along with his kids and their families gathered for his final game. And yes, as usual, Don won the game!!!

Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Mary Woods & husband David and Sherri Palmer & husband Clay, all of Sulphur; two sons, Billy McGregor & wife Jamie of Erick, OK and Andy McGregor & wife Kabrina of Sulphur; eighteen grandchildren, Christopher Woods, Mike Woods, Garrett Woods & wife Candice, Dillon Woods & wife Chelsey, Kyle Palmer & girlfriend Lynze Ratchford, Molly White & husband Hunter, Cole Palmer & wife Allie, Shane McGregor, Shelby McGregor, Keeton Palmer, Tanner McGregor, Drew McGregor, Koda Palmer, Ransom Greer, Maxim McGregor, Addie Woods, Lexxi Woods and Jaxton McGregor; as well as 14 great-grandchildren, MyKell, Ryder, Laykin, Kobyn, Landen, Sydnie, Keely, Blaise, Rhett, Axel, Lennox, Maddux, River and Lincoln.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry McGregor and Wayne McGregor.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Woods, Mike Woods, Garrett Woods, Dillon Woods, Kyle Palmer, Cole Palmer and Shane McGregor. Honorary bearers will be Keeton Palmer, Koda Palmer, Tanner McGregor, Ransom Greer, Maxim McGregor, Drew McGregor, Jaxton McGregor, Axel White, Blaise Woods, River Ratchford, Ryder Woods, Kobyn Conley and Landen Woods.

The family will receive friends, Thursday evening, June 3, 2021, from 5:00-7:00PM at the funeral home.

Services are “Entrusted to” Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
