Dollie Elmina (Hale) Deel was born May 29, 1914 in Birta, Arkansas to the late William Noel & Ida Jane (Robinson) Hale. She died Saturday, August 5, 2017 in Hickory, OK, at the age of 103 years, 2 months & 7 days.
Dollie grew up in Dougherty. Following her 1933 graduation from Dougherty High School, she married Clarence Douglas Deel on December 23, 1933. Early in this young couple’s marriage, they moved to Calway, CA, where Dollie studied and became a Registered Nurse. She later continued her education and became a licensed X-Ray Technician. She spent 30+ years working for Dr. Landford at his private clinic in Easton, CA. After retiring from nursing, Dollie spent her time traveling. Her most cherished places of travel included her son’s homes in South Africa and Hawaii. In 2000, Dollie moved from her home in Fresno, CA to Castle Rock, CO, to be with her daughter and granddaughter. In 2010, she and her daughter moved from Colorado to Davis, OK.
Dollie was always a very classy, outgoing lady. To her, age was simply a number that rarely slowed her down. Family was always very important to Dollie. Although she lived hundreds of miles away, she kept in constant contact with her siblings and traveled back to Oklahoma to see them each year. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being outdoors, observing nature. She also enjoyed the sport of swimming, which she continued to do, even into her 90’s.
