Dennis Roy Tuley was born Nov 1, 1933 in Ravia, OK to the late Lewis D. & Naomi Lucille (Pierce) Tuley. He died Friday, Apr 29, 2016 in Wynnewood, at the age of 82 years, 5 months & 26 days.
Shortly after his birth, Dennis and his family moved from Ravia to Wynnewood. He attended first & second grades at Roady School. His third through 12th grade years were spent at Woodland. After graduating from Woodland High School, Dennis worked for Mustang Oil & Gas prior to voluntarily enlisting in the United States Army. While in the Army, he served in Korea and Japan. After he was honorably discharged, Dennis returned home and attended Murray State College, studying Agriculture & Engineering. He later attended Okmulgee Trade School where he studied auto mechanics. In January 1959, he married the former Ms. Betty Birchfield. Throughout the early years of their marriage, Dennis worked for Black Civil & Briteson in Gene Autry and later owned and operated a service station in Davis. He also lived and worked several years in the Tecumseh/Shawnee area for the Westington House and Sylvania Companies. After the death of his father in 1973, Dennis & his family moved back to Wynnewood, where they built a home on the family farm. It was at this point in his life that he began working in maintenance at the Pauls Valley State School until his retirement in 1995.
Survivors include his wife Betty; two sons, Richard Tuley & wife Lorrie of Tecumseh and Keith Tuley of Washington State; grandson, Garen Tuley of Shawnee; granddaughter, Dayla Tidwell & husband Ryan of Roff; one great-granddaughter, Emma Tidwell; one great-grandson, Easton Tidwell; sister, Teddy Chivers & husband Ed of Wynnewood; as well as several nieces, nephews & cousins.
