Delma Ann Wilson

April 14, 1940 — January 4, 2025

Delma Ann (Hefley) Wilson graced this earth with her birth on April 14, 1940, in Woodville, OK, to the late James Thomas & Mamie Lee (Howard) Hefley. She received eternal rest on Saturday, January 4, 2025, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 84. She and Billy O. Wilson were united in marriage on August 20, 1960, in Davis. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1991.

Delma grew up in the Davis area, graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1958. While in high school, she was a very proud member of the "Sexy Seven" group. (If you know you know!!) After she and Billy O. married, they resided in Woodward, OK, prior to making their home in Pauls Valley for many years. While living in Pauls Valley, Delma worked as a legal secretary for Curtis & Blanton Attorneys from 1971 until 1986. Upon the retirement of the attorneys, Delma began working with Charles and Brenda Wooster as they built and successfully operated Wooster Funeral Home of Pauls Valley and Elmore City. The bond formed among these three continues to this day. In 1994, Delma left the funeral business and became a House Mother for the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at the University of Oklahoma, where she was named International House Mother in 1995. Delma loved her time at OU and often shared fond memories of her years there.

After leaving OU, Delma moved back to her hometown of Davis, to be near her beloved family. Once settled, she decided to return to the funeral business and joined the staff at Hale's Funeral Home. Delma was more than an employee at Hale's. She became like family to the staff and the staff quickly adopted her as one of their own. She played the role of "Mother Hen" perfectly, as she kept us all in line and on our toes. Delma truly had a heart for comforting families during a loss. As an experienced member of the funeral business, she set an example for her coworkers to follow. Although failing health prevented her from working much the year prior to her death, Delma still kept up with all details and made sure everyone was doing what they should be doing. Without a doubt, Delma's passing will leave a void within the Hale's Funeral Home family, which can never be filled.

Delma was the epitome of class, and one who never met a stranger. Her appearance was always perfect, her professionalism unwavering, and her compassion was straight from her heart. Although classy, professional, and somewhat shy, Delma had a fun side. She loved to see others laugh, even if it took her pulling a prank to make it happen. However, she often found herself on the opposite side of those pranks, which created memories we still laugh about. We could literally talk her into doing anything, all the while she was saying "no". Delma may have left us physically, but the memories she gave us will warm our hearts forever. "Delma, thank you for being you; thank you for being our friend; thank you for loving us; thank you for teaching us how to live a good life, and enjoy it. We will love you forever, our dear sweet friend! Rest easy Delma Ann, for you fought a good fight, you kept your faith, and now may you enjoy the rewards our Lord and Savior has laid up for you."

Those left to mourn Delma's passing include her son, Scott Wilson of McLoud; her grandson, Tanner Scott Wilson of Oklahoma City; one sister, Carra Mae Malicoat; two brothers, James Hefley, Jr and Jerry Don Hefley; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends; as well as her work family, Bethia Tomlinson & husband Brandon; Tyler Tomlinson & wife Brittney and their son, Bodi; Mason Tomlinson; and John Rheed Hale.

In addition to her parents and husband, Delma was preceded in death four sisters, Donna Dimple Buffington, Mary Norwood, Dorothy Timmons, and Iva Nell Ruggs-Pletcher; four brothers, Howard, Robert, R.L., and Joe Bill Hefley; and one self-adopted brother, Gary Hefley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Davis. Her pastor, Alan McCoy of Dougherty Baptist Church, her co-worker, Willard McCartney, Jr of Midway Hill Baptist Church, and her nephew, Tom Hefley of Sulphur's Calvary Baptist will officiate her service. Interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Pauls Valley.
