David Ray Ashford was born May 15, 1950 in Lindsay, OK to the late Orvil Lee and Peggy Sue (Lee) Ashford. He died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in Millcreek, at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 14 days.
David, a lifetime resident of the Sulphur area, was a 1968 graduate of Sulphur High School. He was a very plain spoken individual, allowing those around to know where he stood on any matter. David was a cowboy. Throughout his life, his career choices always reflected his passion for the cowboy way of life. From shoeing horses to doing his intricate leather tooling, the levels of his skills were always very evident.
David was a simple man. All he needed in life to be happy was a roof over his head, a good horse, a good dog and his family. Because of his approach to life, David attracted countless friends over the years that helped to make his life even better.
Survivors include one daughter, Mandy Horn; two grandsons, Johnathan Horn &wife Briana and Tanner Horn & wife Faith, all of Ashland, OK; two great-grandchildren, Cason and Marlee Horn of Ashland; two sisters, Vivian Quistian and DeAnn Conyer; two brothers, Troy Ashford and Gary Ashford & wife Sarah, all of Sulphur; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held 10:00AM, Monday, August 3, 2020 at the Crossway First Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Pastor Trent Maness and Bill Leveridge officiating.
