Darla Jean Harden
Funeral services Darla Jean Harden will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 12, 2024, at the First Free Will Baptist Church, in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur.
Darla was born December 24, 1936, in Oklahoma City, to the late Benjamin & Leona (Rather) Anderson. She died on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 87. She and James Elvin Harden were married on December 21, 1974, in Henrietta, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2024.
Darla grew up in the Norman / Oklahoma City areas. After high school she continued her studies, pursuing certifications in Home Interior Designs, as well as floral arranging. She arranged flowers for many family weddings. She was known for her homemade candies, more specifically chocolate turtles, fudge and beef jerky; as well as being an exceptional seamstress. Darla was a strong-willed lady, who was pretty much unstoppable.
Survivors include her three daughters, Judy Woods of Sulphur, Arlene George of Davis, and Janie Sprague of Davis; one son, Clint Parr, Jr; nine grandchildren, Nicholas Glover, Darla Woods, Johnnie George, Timothy George, Amber Sprague, Lacie Standridge, Clint Parr, III, Sandra Waters, and Crystal Herringshaw; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as a one sister, Darlene Curtis.
In addition to her parents and husband, Darla was preceded in death by one son, Joe Daniel Parr; son-in-law, Glenn Woods; two granddaughters, Miracle Faith George and Sarah Jane George; and two siblings, Mary Ann Brinlee and Kenneth Anderson.
Services are "Entrusted to" Hale's Funeral Home of Sulphur.
