Curtis Eston Reed

Funeral services for Curtis Eston “Curt” Reed will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Kent Stewart officiating.

Curt was born May 16, 1946 in Atoka, OK to the late Milton C and Emma L. (Cope) Reed. He died Monday, August 24, 2020 in Elmore City, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 8 days. Curt and the former Ms. Debbie Ann Adams were married on February 26, 1971 in Plato, OK. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2015. On April 22, 2017, Curt married Sarah F. (Chatman) Helloms in Marlow, OK.

Curt grew up in Marlow, graduating from Marlow High School, Class of 1965. Following high school he attended East Central University and later Cameron University. Prior to completing college, Curt joined the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Following an honorable discharge from the Navy, Curt worked for Mac Oil and the LTV Corporation in Dallas.

In 1972, Curt began working at the Uniroyal Manufacturing Plant in Ardmore, where he spent the next 34 years building tires. Curt enjoyed the cowboy way of life. He spent countless hours roping and riding. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, raising chickens and collecting “stuff”. Curt was known to be quite the dancer.

Survivors include his wife Sarah; three sons, Stephen Reed & wife Millie of Springer, Randy Reed & Tammy of Elmore City and Brent Reed of Hennepin; three step-sons, William Helloms of Waurika, Ray Helloms & wife Mallory of Louisiana and Steven Helloms of Waurika; fourteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; as well as two sisters, LaDonna Elam and Lucretia Kitchen, both of Marlow; and one brother, MC. Reed of Duncan.

In addition to his parents and first wife, Curt was preceded in death by one sister, Loretta “Pud” Reed; and one granddaughter, Reagan Reed.
