Funeral services for Clifford Leon Johnson will be held 1:00PM, Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the Crossway First Baptist Church Chapel in Sulphur with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
Clifford was born August 24, 1948, in Sulphur, OK, to the late Merle R. and Elsie V. (Young) Johnson. He died on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 74 years and 13 days.
Clifford was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. Following his 1967 graduation from Sulphur High School, he continued his education at Murray State College in Tishomingo. Clifford then spent the next 20+ years working for the State of Oklahoma Department of Motor Vehicles and an enforcement officer. He also devoted 20 years of service to the Sulphur Fire Department. He was very proud of his involvement in the fire service and enjoyed every minute of it.
Although Clifford was a rather quiet individual, he was very outgoing. He loved traveling and taking cruises with his family. Clifford was an avid fan of the OSU Cowboys and a member of the Crossway First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his beloved sister, Retha Robbins of Kennedale, TX; numerous cousins, including Darla Williams of Shawnee, and Marlene Isenberg & husband Don of Durant; and his best friend, Denny Stacy, whom he revered as a brother.
Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
