Clifford Eugene Cops, Sr.

  Clifford Eugene Cops, Sr., formerly of Oklahoma City, was born July 25, 1928, in Davis, to the late Arthur Francis “Buck” and Retta (Hicks) Cops. He died Wednesday, September 13, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 19 days. Clifford and the former Ms. Beulah F. Warbington were married on June 12, 1948, in Austin, TX. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2010.  

  Clifford grew up in Davis. He spent several years working in the oil field prior to relocating to Oklahoma City in 1951, where he joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department. In August 1978, Clifford retired as a driver from the fire department, after 27 years of loyal service.

  Clifford had several part-time jobs to fill his days off from the fire department, which included doing lawncare, hot shot transporting and house painting. Prior to failing health, he enjoyed fishing and visiting area casinos.

  Survivors include his three sons, Tommy Cops of Ringold, OK, Clifford Cops, Jr & wife Kym of Sulphur, and Alvin Cops & wife Terry of Newcastle, OK; seven grandchildren, Danita Prichard & husband Bobby, Jeff Cops & wife Courtney, Alan Cops & wife Jana, Chad Cops & wife Janet, Angela Gengler & husband Ryan, and Stacy Burton & husband Gilbert, and Ashlee Schalk; as well as 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

  In addition to his beloved parents and wife, Clifford was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Brown; six brothers, George Cops, Oscar “OL” Cops, Dean Cops, Garland “Coot” Cops, Hubert Keith Cops, and Palmer “Mickey” Cops; and daughter in law, Dorothy Cops.

  Graveside services will be held 1:00PM, Friday, September 22, 2023, at the Green Hill Cemetery, in Davis, with his grandson, Jeff Cops officiating.
