Graveside services for Clara Imogene McNett were held 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr officiating.
Clara, better known by many as “Jean”, was born November 3, 1931, in Pawhuska, OK to the late Rufus J. and Eldee (Post) McKinney. She died Tuesday, July 6, 2021, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 3 days. Jean and Richard Wayne McNett were united in marriage on August 30, 1950, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Together they enjoyed 70 wonderful years of marriage, prior to his death on November 10, 2020.
Growing up the daughter of a cowboy, Jean’s earlier years of life were spent on ranches in Osage County, Oklahoma, including the Maher Ranch and the famous Drummond Ranch. She attended school in Fairfax until she was discovered as an all-star basketball player. Jean left Fairfax and spent the final year of high school at Burbank, graduating in 1950. In addition to her basketball honors, Jean was also a very gifted trick rider with her horse.
Jean was always a very active lady. In addition to the many years of being a homemaker, she worked several years doing clerical work for the Hartford Life Insurance Company. Jean was a very accomplished seamstress, mending and sewing clothes for not only her beloved family, but for the public as well. Following Richard’s retirement in the late 1980’s, he and Jean made their home in Davis, to be closer to her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed square dancing, playing the piano and trying her luck at area casinos.
Jean was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & great-great grandmother. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Her time spent with the grandchildren created many precious memories, some of which earned her the title of “Naughty Nanny.”
Survivors include her two daughters, Deborah Townsley of Davis and Pamela Zajac & husband Edward of Erie, PA; six grandchildren, Jimmy Wayne Townsley, Jody Ashley & wife Brenda, Jackie Townsley & wife Jill, Jared Ashley & wife Taylor, Vanessa Ashley-Scheiwer & husband Scott, and Meagan Zajac & husband Jesse; twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob & wife Katelynn, Jay & wife Kaitlyn, Jace, Jaden, Preston, Julian, Sydnie, Jett, Jagger, Georgia, Brantley, and Evelyn; three great-great grandchildren, Jonas, Brody, and Grayson; two expected great-great grandchildren, Wyatt and Milli; one sister, Wanda Dowell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
