Charles Clyde Brown

September 22, 1945 — December 8, 2023

Charles C. Brown, a retired English teacher and resident of Davis, left this earth and went to his eternal home on December 8, 2023, at the age of 78 years, two months, and sixteen days. He was born in Shirleysburg, PA on September 22, 1945, to the late William Roy Brown and Evelyn Brown (Goshorn). He chose to serve God when he was a young boy, and until the end of his life, he was true to his faith. His families, both natural and spiritual, were at the core of his heart.

Brown graduated from Captain Jack High School in 1963. He joined the Army right after graduation and spent the majority of his enlistment in Wildflecken, Germany. He married Carolyn (Gray) on August 12, 1966, in Mt. Union, PA, and they celebrated 57 years together. They have three children, Lemar, September 13, 1968: Amy, November 25, 1971: and Ginny, August 10, 1973.

He retired from teaching high school and middle school English and history after three years in Coffeyville, Kansas, three years in Elmore City, Oklahoma, and one year in Terral, Oklahoma, where he served as the high school principal as well as teaching English, 22 years in Davis, and one year in Blue Ridge, Texas. Then he served as In-School Suspension Director in Nocona, Texas for six years.

After retiring from the Oklahoma and Texas education systems, he wrote and published 12 mystery books. He worked for several years as a photographer, and he and his wife did wedding photography for more than thirty years. He also enjoyed working in his woodshop. One of his greatest joys was going on road trips with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three children, Lemar Brown, Amy Morgan and Ginny Rucker & husband Bobby; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Brown of Fayetteville, AR and Donna Brown of Chambersburg, PA; fifteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Roy, and Evelyn; two brothers, William David, and Dennis Lee Brown, and two sisters.
