Charles “Charlie” Linval Simpson was born Nov 25, 1931 in Gotebo, OK to the late Marvin Lee & Lulu Jane (Ritchardson) Simpson. He died Friday, July 27, 2012 in Sulphur at the age 80 years 8 months and 2 days. Charlie and Christine Naoma Lee Abbott were united in marriage on Jun 14, 1952 in Ada.
Charlie, a veteran of the Korean War, was described by his family as “a man of valor.” He and Christine owned and operated the Simpson Oil Company in Sulphur for some 25 years. Charlie had a love for horses, which led him to raise cutting horses. He and Christine loved to travel, and in his retirement years, they traveled as often as they could. Charlie found great amusement in teasing and picking at “his Christine”. He was a faithful member of the morning “Coffee Shop Club”, the National Quarter Horse Association and the Crossway Baptist Church of Sulphur.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife Christine; three daughters, Vicky Lynn Byrd, Tammy Sue Dudley and Janeva Jean “JJ” Holland; one son Charles Linval “Red” Simpson, Jr.; nine grandchildren, David W. Anderson, Shawna M. Simpson, Patty Ann Morris, Sarah E. Jung, Michael C. Simpson, Marc Lee Dennison, Paul B. Dudley, Anthony D. Holland and Tyler Holland; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Guynell Ferguson; and brother Glen Simpson.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Oleta Simpson Kirby.
