Graveside funeral services for Cecil Sides will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson, OK with Brother Thomas Thompson officiating.

Cecil was born August 28, 1932 in Wilson to the late Robert Clayton and Clara Mable (Golden) Sides. He died Monday, February 26, 2018 in Sulphur, at the age of 85.

Cecil grew up in Wilson, graduating from Wilson High School, class of 1951. He retired from the US Army on January 31, 1973 at Ft. Sill, OK, after serving over 20 years of active duty. While in the US Army, Cecil served in Korea and Germany. His awards and decorations included the National Defense Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, as well as, a six time recipient of the Good Conduct Medal. Cecil was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 577 of Tulsa, OK and the Wilson Historical Society & Museum.

Following his retirement from the Army, Cecil moved to Stuttgart, AR where he was employed as manager of Stuttgart Square Shopping Center and the general manager of the Rice Bowling Center. He later owned and operated Stuttgart Security Service for several years, providing security service for homes, retail stores and several area banks. In 1983 he sold his security service and resigned as manager of Stuttgart Square and returned home to Oklahoma. He established residence in Tulsa where he was employed as a security officer for ONEOK at their corporate office. He was later employed with Swearingen Management Company at Warren Place, providing security for properties owned by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. On June 15, 1995, Cecil retired completely and moved from Tulsa to Davis.

Survivors include two sons Steven Troy Sides of Catoosa, OK and Scott Alan Sides of Lawton, OK; two grandsons, Dillon Troy Sides and Kade Joseph Walker; as well as one niece; five nephews and numerous cousins.

In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

In lieu of flowers, Cecil requested that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Davis Vision Fund or the Wilson Historical Society and Museum.
