Carolyn Sue Damewood was born November 26, 1929 in Norman, OK to the late Irl and Effie Mae (Thompson) Sellers. She died Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Sulphur, at the age of 88 years 4 months and 26 days. Carolyn and Richard Beavers were married on August 29, 1947 in Norman. He preceded her in death on January 11, 1975. On July 5, 1977, she married Ernest L. “Bill” Damewood in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2014
Carolyn grew up in Norman. Following her 1946 graduation from Norman High School, she attended Hills Business School in Oklahoma City. Later she and Bill moved to Arizona, where Carolyn became a licensed real estate agent, during the early 1980’s. In 1995, she and Bill moved to the Five Lakes community, south of Sulphur. Carolyn was a very crafty lady. She enjoyed painting, making jewelry and decorating. She was a devoted member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sulphur, where she volunteered on a regular basis. She was a member of the Catholic Altar Society, as well as the Christian Women’s Group.
Survivors include one daughter, Leisa French & husband David of Maricopa, AZ; two sons, Michael Beavers of Phoenix, AZ and John Beavers of Sulphur; six grandchildren, Richard Beavers of Omaha, NE, David Beavers of Nashville, TN, Janie Beavers of Baton Rouge, LA, Brian French of Maricopa, AZ, Catha Selk of Omaha, NE, and Jessica Carmichael of Maricopa, AZ; eight great-grandchildren; as well as one sister, Martha Cobb of Norman.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Carolyn was preceded in death by one sister, Irene (Sellers) Morris; and two brothers, Paul James Sellers and Irl Sellers, Jr.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 25, 2018 at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sulphur, with Father Billy Lewis officiating.
