Carlton S. Drake was born April 11, 1912 to Sherman Taylor and Ruth Elizabeth (Shelton) Drake in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his home at the age of 100 years and 3 days.
He grew up and attended school in Sulphur and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Carl and Doris Patton were married in Ardmore, Oklahoma on June 30, 1949. He was a horse trainer and rancher in the Sulphur area all his life. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing dominoes, horseshoes, pool, wolf hunting, roping and working with horses. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Sulphur.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; all of his siblings; and one son, James Shelton.
He is survived by wife, Doris; daughter, Dorisann Drake-Tillery and her husband, Ronnie of Sulphur; granddaughter, Lyndsey Rose Ramer and her husband, Justin of Sulphur; and one great grandchild, Brityn Ramer.
