Funeral services for Bobby Glenn “Bob” Wingo will be held 2:00PM, Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Hennepin Baptist Church in Hennepin. Interment will follow at the Hennepin Cemetery.
Bob was born October 22, 1932 in Hennepin to the late Broadus L. and Lillian E. (Jones) Wingo. He died Sunday, December 1, 2019 in Norman, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 9 days. Bob and the former Ms. Paula Joan Lee were married on September 30, 2014 in Hennepin.
Bob grew up in Hennepin and attended school at Woodland. Following high school, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Combat Infantry Badge. Following an Honorable Discharge on October 16, 1954, Bob returned home and began a career with the US Government as a land surveyor. Following retirement from the US Government, Bob owned and operated the Wingo Grocery Store in Hennepin for many years.
Bob was a very civic-minded man. He was active with numerous organizations, serving as chairman and board member, including the Hennepin Fire Department, Hennepin Cemetery Association, the West Davis Rural Water Department, the Land Surveyor’s Association, Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and Cub Scouts of America. One of his most cherished membership was that of the First Baptist Church of Hennepin.
Bob was a very stellar individual. Although he was of a quiet nature, he stood strong in his convictions of right and wrong. He believed in showing respect to others and in turn, gained the respect of others. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising cattle, watching sports on television and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Paula; six children, son, Scott Wingo & wife Pam of Elmore City, daughter, Liz Wilburn & husband Steve of Ada, son, Michael Wingo of Ada, daughter, Julie Auld of Konawa, daughter, Shannon Stevenson & husband Marc of Grand Prairie, TX and daughter, Sheree’ Serrano & husband Frank of Edmond; five children gained from his marriage, Colleen Guthery of New Mexico, Susie McCoy of Lindsay, OK, Linda Blaine of Oklahoma City, Stephen Blaine of Norman and James Williams of Pauls Valley; 14 grandchildren, Jeremy Wingo, Jared Wingo, Stephanie Schofield, Daniel Wilburn, Caleb Wingo, Kelsey Wingo, Cooper Wingo, Madison Auld, Connor Auld, Brianna Porter, Summer Stevenson, Luke Stevenson, Savannah Stevenson and Jace Serrano; two great-grandchildren, Jada Retka and Abigail Schofield; as well as one brother, Jim Wingo & wife Jackie of Hennepin.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by wife Peggy Wingo; one sister, Patricia Fisher; and one brother, Joe Wingo.
Serving as pallbearers will be WR Howard, Larry Lee, Johnny Warren, Lee Ray Kennedy, Cliff Trent and Rick Whitehead. Honorary bearers will be Ron Morton, Ron Tillery, Randy Tigert, Emil Franklin and Mike Anderson.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, December 4th, from 5:00 to 7:00PM, at the funeral home.
