Betty was born June 8, 1932 in Hill County, TX to the late Ross David & Clare (Tribble) Martin. She died Thursday, Jan 24, 2013 in Sulphur, at the age of June 8th, 1932 years 7 months and 16 days. Betty & Walter W. Courtney were married on Dec 11, 1972 in Sweetwater, TX. He preceded her in death on Nov 24, 1996. Others preceding her in death include a daughter, Carlyn Cravens; granddaughter, Tiffany Sternadel; and twin sister, June Martin.

Betty moved to the area in 1975, coming from Loraine, TX. She was a straight forward person, who often times said what she felt and why she felt that way. Betty attended East Central University, where she studied Nursing. She spent most of her working career as a Nurse’s Aide, doing mostly home health. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, fishing and dancing.

Survivors include three daughters, Paula Navar of Nevada, Cecila Kling & husband Johnny of Texas and Janice Sternadale & husband Alan of Duncan; three sons, Paul Lewis of Sulphur, Jerry Morris of Davis & Cleve Courtney & wife Teresa of Sulphur; twelve grandchildren, Adam & Rebecca Kling, Josh & Kasey Nally, Christa Parmore, Alex Harrison, Shelly Courtney, James & Sara Sternadel, Kelly Doyle and Jessica & Rhea Navar; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sybil Jones & Karen Martin, both of Texas; and one brother Ross Martin of Nebraska.
