Betty Jo (Palmer) West was born September 12, 1947, in Sulphur, to the late J.D. & Jean Rose (Driver) Palmer. She went to her forever home with the Lord on Friday, May 28, 2021, in Jones, OK, at the age of 73 years, 8 months & 16 days. Betty and Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” West were united in marriage in Sulphur. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2006.
Betty was raised by her grandparents, the late Bewey & Ona Driver, on their farm in Wynnewood. It was on there that she fished, found the love to read and enjoyed small-town life. She attended Wynnewood High School, graduating in 1965. Following high school, she continued her education at the University of Oklahoma. Betty & Ronnie resided in Sulphur until 1988, when the closing of the OG&E Plant forced the family to relocate to Harrah, OK.
Betty had two amazing children, Chuck & Jennifer, whom she shared her passion for OU Football with by awakening them early on Saturday mornings for gameday. Betty was a very devoted Grandma & Grammy. She was always excited to hear about the grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She was very thrilled to finally have a grandchild living close enough to her that she could spoil; and boy did she ever spoil her. Betty leaves behind a lasting impact on her family and friends. Her legacy will live on through her family.
Survivors include her son, Chuck West & wife Paige of Fountain Valley, CA; her daughter, Jennifer Holbrook & husband Tommy of Jones; three grandchildren, Dylan West, Katie West and Ivy Holbrook; one brother, Jimmy Dan Palmer of Sallisaw; her beloved sister, Patsy Gray of Sulphur; two nieces, Jeanie Jennings and Paula Thomas & husband Bo, both of Davis; sisters-in-law, Donna Miller of Midwest City and Debbie Watkins of Edmond; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, WB Driver; and mother-in-law, Ludene West.
