Barbara Lou (Chaffin) Dale of Davis Oklahoma entered this life on March 15, 1933 to Arthur and Kittie (Fields) Chaffin in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She departed this life for the arms of Jesus on March 4, 2019 in Denison, Texas.
Barbara’s early life was spent in Sulphur where she graduated high school and grew up in the First Baptist Church. After High School she went on to East Central University and studied there for two years. Barbara married Jimmy Dale and they spent the rest of their lives together loving each other and raising their four children. She and Jimmy, as well as their children were faithful followers of Christ and were members of the East Main Church of Christ in Davis for many years, and later Cornerstone Church of Christ in Davis. Devotion to God, each other, and their children set the course of their life together. One of her greatest joys was being a mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.
After her children were grown, she became the Jewelry Department Manager at Walmart in Sulphur and spent 23 years working there. This new career opened the door for her to touch the lives of countless people throughout the area. She lived her life with passion for God, family, and being a servant to those hurting and in need. Some of her most loving expressions were shown outside of her family, by taking breakfast food, along with her church sisters, to people that had lost loved ones. In addition, she loved coordinating and participating in church services at Burford Manor nursing home. Another passion was cooking and she loved to prepare meals. Some of her most cherished times were spent preparing meals for the holidays. In 2008 Barbara lost her only daughter, Karen and it was one of the most difficult parts of her life; however, her faith in God saw her through. She loved God, Jimmy, her children and life itself. Her passing will be felt by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Nat Watson, Billie Brown and Mary Woodell; two brothers Melvin Chaffin and G.W. Chaffin; and her daughter Karen Dale Limke.
She is survived by her husband Jimmy Dale of the home; three children, Kevin Dale & wife Dianna of Durant, Kent Dale & wife Nancy of College Station, Texas and Alan Dale of Midwest City; two siblings, Paul Chaffin & wife Kay of Sulphur, and Carolyn Chaffin Brewster of Sulphur; and one sister in law Lois Nigh of Houston Texas. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren; April Williams & husband Eric, Ryan Whitefield & wife Tiffany, Adam Whitefield & wife Jamie, Jenna Barton, Joshua Dale & wife Brooke, Matthew Dale, Dasha Dale and Kelby Bradley & husband Logan; as well as 12 great grandchildren, two special friends Robert & Carla Hartsfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends, Thursday evening, March 7, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00PM at the Cornerstone Church of Christ, located at 407 North Third Street in Davis.
