Augusta Ernestine Atchley

- Augusta Ernestine Atchley, better known as Ernestine, was born on October 2, 1937, in Benton, AR. She died on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in Ardmore, at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 6 days.
- At the early age of 7, Ernestine and her family moved from Benton to Valliant, OK, where she was raised. In 1976, she and her children moved to Davis where she would meet James Waldon Atchley. After five years of him asking, Ernestine finally married James on July 19, 1981, in Davis. She and James enjoyed 30 years of marriage prior to his death on July 3, 2011.

- Ernestine was never one to back away from hard work. Throughout her life she worked as a waitress, did private housekeeping for several area families, as well as spent several years working in home health care.

- Ernestine was an exceptional cook. She had a passion for baking desserts. She was known for her homemade Banana Nut Bread. Ernestine made it a habit to bless many friends, neighbors and family members with a fresh loaf of banana bread. In addition to her baking, she also enjoyed sewing.

- Ernestine, just like her late husband James, was an avid, diehard fan of the Davis Wolves. Her support for the Wolves never wavered, win or lose. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother and friend. Spending time with her family brought her great joy.

- Survivors include three daughters, Terry Lynn Adams of Davis, Tina Marlene Thomasson of Konawa, and LeeAnn Nation & husband Ricky of Valliant; three sons, Benjamin Allen Richards & wife Anita of Madill, Robert Lee Richards of Davis, and Clifton “Chipper” Kirby of Davis; twelve grandchildren, Sarah Wood & fiancé Jeremy, Crystal Adams, Tiffany Ross & husband Justin, Samanth Adams, Clint Thomasson & wife Sharon, Marsha Nation, Tasha Clark & husband Bill, Brittany Nation & fiancé Gregg, Candice Nation, Sierra Stuckey & husband Justin, Stacie Burchette, and Shaliene Burchett; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Goshen & wife Shelia; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

- In addition to her husband, Ernestine was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Ellen (Bearden) Kirby; father, Kenneth Goshen; infant daughter, Trudy Wilbanks; grandson, Cecil Lynn Wilbanks; great-granddaughter, Paige Rosenthaw; four sisters, Pansey Cole, Bessie Wyatt, Kay Hastings, and Opal Gardener; two brothers, Clay Kirby and Leroy Goshen; as well as her best friend and sister-in-law, Helen Richards.

- Funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Davis, with Pastor Tom Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
