Graveside services for Allen D Richardson will be held 2:00PM, Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood with Pastor Alan McCoy officiating.
Allen was born November 7, 1936 in Wynnewood, OK to the late George and Lorene (Sherman) Richardson. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, November 30, 2020 in Pauls Valley, at the age of 84 years and 23 days. Allen and the former Ms. Mary Elizabeth LaMascus were united in marriage on May 31, 1963. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2017.
Allen grew up on the family farm, south of Joy. He attended Joy and Wynnewood Schools, graduating from Wynnewood High School, class of 1955. Following high school, Allen attended East Central University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He later earned a Master’s degree from East Central in School Administration, as well as a Master’s degree in Counseling. During his formal education years, Allen was drafted into the United States Army and also served in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge from both branches of the military.
With his college degree in hand, Allen began his first year in education as the principal at the Dougherty School. Year two of his career took him to Davis Public Schools, teaching high school and middle school math. Throughout his 29 years employment with Davis Schools, he served as a counselor for grades K-12, retiring in 1990 as the middle school principal.
In addition to all his years in education, Allen owned and operated the 4-R Farms, south of Joy. Where most consider farming to be a full-time job, Allen considered it to be his hobby, no matter how expensive it got.
Allen was a very devoted man of God. He spent much of his life sharing the gospel with others. He served as pastor of the Dougherty Baptist Church for some 11 years, as well as supplied at several area churches. Prior to pastoring at Dougherty, Allen was a very devoted member of the Joy Baptist Church. His faith was unwavering and his desire to serve the Lord never weakened, even when failing health prevented him from pastoring.
Survivors include his two sons, Mark Richardson & wife Barbie of Davis and Randy Richardson & wife Sally of Orlando, OK; six grandchildren, Brad Richardson, Zach Richardson, Emily Neal & husband Tom, Thomas Richardson, Abigail Richardson and Anna Richardson; one great-grandson, Ryan Neal; as well as one sister, June Guess of Ardmore.
