Alesha Denise Henley
A casual “Time of Remembrance” for family and friends of Alesha Henley, 39, of Davis will be held Sunday, Sept. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church in Davis. A private committal service at Green Hill Cemetery is planned for Thursday, Sept. 25.
Mrs. Henley was born Nov. 11, 1973, in Warner Robins, Ga., to Richard and Sharon (Ratzlaff) Chadwick and died after a two-year battle with cancer on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Ardmore. She and Grant Henley were married April 1, 1996, at Sulphur.
She graduated from Davis High School in 1992 and was salutatorian and president of her senior class. She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University then transferred to East Central University, where she graduated with honors in 1996. Following graduation, she and Grant moved to Grandfield, where she was editor of the Big Pasture News. After three years, they sold the newspaper and about a year later, she returned to The Davis News, where she worked as production manager. In particular, she enjoyed creating ads and writing a personal column called “...and then.”
Her column often shared the antics of her cats, which she loved with a passion. In honor of that love, her family has established a memorial fund to complete the cattery at the new Murray County Animal Shelter. Those who would like to donate can send a check made out to DOAV to Alesha Henley Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 5, Davis, OK 73030.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her grandparents, Beverly McFarland of Davis and Doyle and Norma Chadwick of Edmond, and her great-grandmother, Opal Chadwick of Lawton. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ray Ratzlaff.
